Firstly, ensure that you have a gallery attached to your shade- this is the circular metal piece that sits on top. If it didn’t come with one, then please contact us and we’ll see if we have a fit for your unique piece. Next choose the length and type of fabric cable you like. With over three hundred different types to choose from you will be sure to find a perfect match. Our twisted and cotton cable is a good fit if you want to retain the vintage look. Or choose a pattern like houndstooth or stiped for the old-world look. At the end of the cloth cord is the ceiling rose. We have a range in bronzes, nickel and industrial. Some even come with hooks for a lovely historic feel. If your pendant will be plug-in, then omit this step and choose a plug. Within the shade will sit the lamp holder, the light fitting which holds the bulb. A piece of this often pokes out above the gallery and so you want to choose an aesthetically pleasing lamp holder- bakelite or antique finish is best. Finally choose a bulb that fits the lamp holder and will give you your intended bulb glow.
Restore your antique or vintage table lamp. We see a lot of customers who are looking to restore their original vintage table lamps. Often, they just need a freshen up of the electrical cord and are looking to match or contract with the lamp base itself. Alternatively replacing the whole electrical internals of the lamp is possible. Update lamp fittings from bayonet to Edison screw to increase the variety of light bulbs to choose from. Add dimmers and switches to improve your lamps functionality. Lamp holders with shade rings to support original shades or replacement pieces can be added. Restoring antique and vintage lighting is the perfect way to maintain the character of your house through a renovation.
